Tom Saxton retired from Hayes Dana ( Dana ) as Senior Vice President in 2001 after 42 years with the company. His career started in 1959 in the warehouse in Beamsville as a picker/packer/shipper. His picking/packing/shipping skills must have been exceptional as he was quickly transferred to Edmonton to manage a facility in 1961.
He continued to impress and was shipped back to Ontario just 2 years later for the next phase of his career. He progressed through a series of OEM positions culminating in his promotion Sales and Marketing Manager, Automotive Division in the Beamsville facility.
In 1978, Hayes Dana decided Tom needed some International experience. To that end, he and his family moved to Indiana, USA so Tom could manage the facility there.
Returning to Canada in 1981, Tom went back to Beamsville to manage the Heavy Duty truck group for 8 years.
In 1989 he became the Vice President/General Manager for the Automotive Aftermarket in Canada.
Tom became the Senior Vice-President in 1995 until his retirement in 2001. He was honored with the AIA Distinguished Service Award in 2002.
Tom has been supported in his career by his wife of 64 years, Mary, their 2 children Shawn and Sherri, his 4 grandchildren and his siblings Judy and Bruce. In his retirement, he and Mary winter in Florida where he plays a mean game of golf as evidenced by the 4 Holes in One he has accumulated over the year.
