Shirley Brown

At almost every event nearing now 5 decades - tradeshow, gatherings, conventions or otherwise - you could count on Shirley being there and bringing you the news, images, highlights and stories. As an original Industry female pioneer, Shirley’s influence, reach and respect accelerated the deserved acceptance, appreciation, and opportunity that future women business leaders have rightfully earned.  Ever the graceful and impeccably dressed on the outside, beneath it all lives the tough, resilient, bright, and determined Lady so many admire.

Shirley and husband Joe were avid car and racing enthusiasts and often seen at local tracks like Speedway Park, Flamborough and Cayuga. In the mid 70’s, they started Fairview Chrysler with a few partners until selling and Joe retiring in 1991.

With a background in radio, television and publication, along with a deep love of cars and racing, Shirley joined Wheel Spin News in 1978.

In 1981, Shirley started her own industry publication and the first edition of Aftermarket Canada hit the streets. Aftermarket Canada quickly earned the reputation as the go to source for all that was happening in the industry at the time. Running the publication remote from their home on Eagle Lake in South River ON, Shirley sold the business more than 20 years later to Rousseau Publications in 1992.

After a brief 6-week retirement, Shirley agreed to stay on and support the continued development of the publication including the launch of CASP or the Canadian Aftermarket Service Provider magazine. While ownership and names have changed several times since, Shirley continues to be an active contributor and says, “unless I can’t, I look forward to seeing all of you at the next event and sharing your stories”!

Married for 58 years until the passing of her husband, mom to Lincoln ( and wife Vicki) and grandma to Bailey & Mason…..our thanks to you, Shirley, for all that you have given and contributed to the Automotive Aftermarket Industry!
